APPOINTMENTS

To make and appointment with a doctor

We operate an On The Day Patient Call Back GP Appointment system.

On the day that you would like an appointment to see the doctor please ring our main switchboard number 01768 214345 to request a call back from a doctor. A member of our Patient Support Team will take your details & a brief description of your need. 

You will be placed on a doctor's call back list (you may specify your doctor of choice) who will aim to contact you within two Hours in the morning, or three in the afternoons, however we can not guarantee this. When the doctor rings back they will go through your symptoms and if an appointment is necessary, the doctor will arrange this.

One of our main aims is to ensure our patients have continuity of care.  By this we mean ensuring that you can see the same doctor of your choice whenever possible.

Nurse and Health Care Assistant appointments

Appointments can be booked in advance. However, if appointments are not available, the Duty Nurse will contact you to arrange a suitable time to attend.  Please ring 01768 214345 to arrange an appointment or register with Patient Access to book certain types of appointment online - see Home Page for further information.

Health check and review appointments

These appointments are arranged by our Administration Department, and a member of our Patient Support Team may need to take your details and ask an Administrator to call you back.

Appointment System Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why does the doctor always phone us first?

Our aim is to put you in touch with the doctor as soon as possible. We have found that the simplest way to do this is with a phone call. Often the matter can be dealt with over the phone, saving you a trip.

2. How soon will the doctor phone?

We try to phone as soon as possible, so please don't go out when expecting a call. The actual time depends on the volume of demand coming in, but usually this is within 2 hours of your call, most often sooner. Delays may occur due to emergencies or home visits, which take place during lunch time hours.

3. What if I'm at work? I can only take calls in breaks.

Please explain this to the receptionist. We will do our best to phone at a convenient time. Employers welcome the system, as matters can often be dealt with over the phone which saves you missing several hours for an appointment.

4. What is the best time to call the surgery?

You can call at any time we are open for normal business. There is no need to call when the lines open at 8am. You will get exactly the same service at any time of day. If your call is non urgent, e.g. for test results, please call after about 11am or in the afternoon when it is usually quieter.

5. When will I see the doctor if I need to come in?

The doctor will offer you a choice. Most patients want to come in on the same day, or certainly within the next day or two, but you can say a later date and book ahead if necessary.
